The International Yoga Day
The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 because 21st June is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere.So the United Nations declared 21st June as the International Yoga Day in order to spread awareness among the people regarding yoga.
The word 'yoga' came from Sanskrit word yuj which means " to unite or join."The true essence of yoga revolves around elevating the life force or ‘Kundalini’ at the base of the spine. It aims to achieve this through a series of physical and mental exercises. At the physical level, the methods comprise various yoga postures or 'asanas' that aim to keep the body healthy. The mental techniques include breathing exercises or ‘pranayama’ and meditation or ‘dhyana’ to discipline the mind.

Yoga is not a religion; it is a way of living that aims towards 'a healthy mind in a healthy body'.Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India.

The pandemic has shown us the importance of immunity and healthy living . Yoga is something that bring this quality together.
